Phatthalung Province is the land that is rich of natural travelling places such as waterfalls, lakes, and hot springs. Because of its charm, there are many travelers come to visit in each year. Even my hometown is Phatthalung, I haven’t got any chances to travel that places yet. When I was a child, I dreamed that I would go there at least one time in my life especially at Thalay Noi. Every time I heard the word Thalay Noi, I imagined that it would be a little sea -- not wide and large as others, so I would like to prove with my eyes how it is .This is the main reason why I really like to visit there.
Luckily, around five years ago on Welcome Freshmen Program of Phatthalung Club, I had the best chance to visit there. Our trip started on 5 P.M. so everybody had to wake up earlier than another day. We intended to reach there before the sun rise because it was a good weather suited for touching with the beautiful real natural scenes. While getting Thalay Noi, the feeling inside softly whispered me that my previous thought and what I was seeing were totally different because Talay Noi, in Thai was “little sea” ,but the name was a misnomer. Actually, it is a large freshwater swamp measuring six per cent of the total wetland that also connects to Songkhla Lake. The sun was gradually rising above the lotus swamp together with the golden yellow light slowly appeared on the sky. Because of the influence of the new day’s first light, a few minutes later, the sky was brighter and brighter until we could see some amazing pictures appearing in front.
Looking out from the shore, we could see pavilions standing in the middle of the lotus lake which was connected with strong long wooden bridges. Actually, there were two choices to touch with the real nature here, the first were riding a long-tailed boat and the second was walking along the bridges. After discussion, we decided to survey in the water; that was riding a long-tailed boat first because if it passed 10 A.M. the weather became hotter which was not suite for travelling. The time at the moment was 7.45 P.M. that was a good time for us to begin our activities. Suddenly, the fear and excitement were gradually covered my hearth because long time I did not ride the boat. Everybody rode the boat carefully, after our guide gave life jackets and cowboy caps, we all relieved noticing from the smiles gradually appeared on our faces. Amidst, the chill wind of the morning softly blew in the air, our boat slowly passed through the water-lilies area and some water plants. Unexpectedly, when we came closer, various colors of lotus all together greeted us friendly and allowed to touch them without any arrogance as we were their fan club. Still more than that, millions birds’ singing sounds were louder and louder as natural music that increased the color on the way in our trip. Besides, we could see more than one hundred species of birds were doing some activities together such as looking for food, feeding for their children. All pictures were attractive scenes which could not find in other places excepted here. Now, the weather was too hot so that it was the best time went to go back to the shore.
On the way, the boat stopped at the floating Sala in the middle of the lake called “Nang-Rium”, there was a canal leads to Song Kla Lake. While walking along the bridge, my feeling was excited as walking above the sea surface, with full of the colorful lotus. From this point, we saw many more new bird species and the lotus raising their necks beautifully than seeing in the boat. By the way, both of the views from the boat or the pavilions (Sala) were extremely attractive. Then we went to buy the souvenir -- OTOP products made from the real Lepironia articulate or (Krdjud) -- such as mat, hat and cone-shaped cover. Finally, we went back to our house with the hearths were full of impressiveness and happiness.
All experiences, pictures and scenes here, were still completely in my memory and it would be like this forever.
Yak pai chang!!!
